We are recruiting a Senior Commercial Account Manager for a leading international software & Hardware manufacturer. The company has a strong foothold across international markets and has aspirations of developing further across the UK. The position will be based in UK (Hybrid) and will involve selling a technical solution to UK Transport public sector bodies or big budget public-funded industries. Sales order values will range from One million with sales cycles in excess of one-year plus. The role will be focused on managing big UK Rail/transport clients.

About the Role:

  • We require a candidate who can evaluate the potential of key accounts for revenue generation potential.
  • A person who can act as a Customer Champion and contribute fully to the development and production of bids for new business and services.
  • Investigating and solving customers’ problems, which may be complex or long-standing that have been passed on by MD, Software or Service Operatives.
  • Presenting in support of bids and general business development activity.
  • Production of Period Reports on all direct sales activity.
  • Identify and analyze competitors (both transport and non-transport) and propose responses to threats through planned action.
  • Market analysis into the target UK sectors generally and on an allocated accounts basis.
  • Maintenance and updating of the Sales Database including a full-contact matrix.
  • Analyse the product and service offering from competitors to create a winning sales strategy.
  • Visit and liaise with the sales and technical hardware & software teams in Germany to be aware of the current and future product capabilities.
  • Obtain and communicate to the Senior Management Team in Germany information related to the markets, the political and economic status for the area, the competitor product range, and their marketing and sales activity in the area.

About the Role:

  • We are looking for the type who has sold into the public sector or to big-budget public-funded industries with particular focus on Rail.
  • Somebody with a proven track record in Account Management and Business Development.
  • A technical mindset that understands public sector Bids and Tendering.
  • A person who can sell into C level.
  • Experience selling engineering or technical solutions across public sector transport divisions will be a distinct advantage.
  • An enterprise software sales background would be a plus.
  • Bid & Tendering background will be a distinct advantage.
