We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Operations Manager to join a new entity in Ireland.  The primary responsibility of this role is to act as a Director and oversee both the operational and accounting functions specific to distribution operations. The Finance and Operations Manager will play a critical role in optimizing processes, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations. This position requires exceptional financial acumen, and a solid understanding of operational management.  Experience within the food and drink industry would be an advantage. Work remotely from Ireland.  Circa 35-hour week.  International travel may be required.  This is a stand-alone role

About the Role:

Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the industry to drive the organization's financial performance.
  • Monitor and analyze financial, prepare financial reports, and present findings to senior management.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities related to operations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the industry to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the executive team in strategic financial decision-making for whiskey-related activities.

Operational Management:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for operational activities related to purchasing, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Streamline operational processes
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to promote compliance and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Accounting and Compliance:

  • Manage the accounting function including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and financial statement preparation for whiskey-related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and industry-specific requirements within the sector.
  • Coordinate and oversee audits, tax filings, and financial risk assessments specific to whiskey operations.
  • Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies 
  • Stay up to date with accounting and regulatory changes within the sector and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, (Professional qualification preferred).
  • Proven experience in a similar 
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and industry-specific regulations 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data specific to the whiskey industry and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels 
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, as well as advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and adherence to deadlines within the whiskey industry.
  • Familiarity with Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and their operational and financial management within the food and drink sector is an advantage.
