We’re working with leading waste management company with a focus on sustainability and efficiency who offer services tailored to both residential and commercial customers. Due to continued growth, they’re looking for a dynamic Maintenance and Garage Manager to join the team. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership abilities and a passion for optimising processes related to vehicle maintenance, compliance, and fleet utilisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee vehicle specification and maintenance while ensuring alignment with commercial, health, safety, and operational objectives.
- Manage internal and external service and maintenance resources to deliver efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective vehicle supply, repair, and upkeep for the fleet.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise vehicle availability.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, managing assets and staff to maintain profitability and deliver excellent customer service.
- Ensure the garage is equipped with appropriate diagnostic tools for timely problem resolution.
- Monitor and utilise the fleet management system to ensure accuracy in job cards, purchase orders, and compliance records, addressing and resolving driver-reported issues.
- Ensure sufficient staffing in the garage, provide training for mechanics, and oversee the induction of third-party contractors.
- Establish and oversee a spare parts management system to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the workshop.
- Conduct risk assessments for maintenance activities, implementing safety measures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Actively manage business KPIs, set budgets, and maximise returns on assets while ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Perform spot checks on vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with legal standards, resolving any issues promptly.
- Embed health, safety, and compliance in all fleet maintenance operations, adhering to all legislative requirements.
What They’re Looking For:
- Relevant Technical Qualification is essential.
- HGV Experience
- Management experience of a service organisation fleet and/or garage.
- Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and Health & Safety legislation/environment.
- Knowledge of workshop procedures & CVRT, Loler, 13-week inspection testing regime and processes.
- Experience of managing in a labour intensive, multi-shift environment
