Are you passionate about the environment and eager to make a tangible impact? We are seeking a dynamic Environmental Health and Safety Officer to join our team and lead our efforts in regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside an EHS Manager and H&S Officer, providing a collaborative and supportive environment for professional growth.

Your Mission:
As our Environmental Health and Safety Officer, you will be at the forefront of our environmental initiatives. Your primary focus will be on the environmental elements, leveraging your extensive knowledge of EPA compliance, Industrial Emission License (IEL) management, and Environmental Management Systems. Your leadership and initiative will be crucial in achieving our department and company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen Environmental Management Program: Enhance our site’s environmental management by implementing innovative support systems aligned with ISO14001 standards.
  • Manage Industrial Emissions License (IEL): Coordinate and monitor programs for noise, water, air, soil, and nuisance smells, ensuring full compliance with IEL requirements.
  • Develop EHS Procedures: Create, implement, and continually revise EHS Standard Operational Procedures to maintain high standards.
  • Environmental Training: Design and deliver comprehensive environmental training programs tailored to our company’s needs.
  • Compliance Inspections: Regularly inspect and evaluate environments, equipment, and processes to ensure adherence to governmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Promote Zero Non-Conformances: Strive to eliminate environmental non-conformances, fostering a culture of compliance and excellence.
  • Occupational Hygiene Program: Develop and manage a robust Occupational Hygiene Program to safeguard employee health.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct detailed risk assessments, including chemical agents, ergonomics, and general tasks, communicating findings effectively.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee contractors, ensuring safe working systems and approving RAMs, Safety Statements, and Training Records.
  • Permit Systems: Develop, maintain, and audit permit-to-work systems for operational safety.
  • Safety Management System: Assist in developing a safety management system aligned with ISO45001 standards.
  • EHS Audits: Conduct thorough audits on EHS site compliance, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • PPE Program: Manage the Personal Protective Equipment Program to protect all employees.
  • Legislative Updates: Stay current with new legislation, implementing necessary changes proactively.

Qualification, Key Skills and Experience:

  • Level 8 Degree/Higher Diploma in Occupational Safety Health and Welfare and/or Degree/Higher Diploma in Environmental Science or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a specific environmental role.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Health and Safety 
  • Knowledge and experience is essential in IPPC license /IEL and strong knowledge in EPA regulations and guidelines 
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Managing Projects
  • Excellent Computer Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
