Distributor Sales Manager - New York Permanent USA 24 September 2021 8605BF Join an expanding private label whiskey company in New York. The Sales Manager will be responsible for the growth and development of a portfolio of Spirits in their assigned territory. You will work as the primary point of contact with the distributor to align and track volume goals, increase points of distribution, build brand awareness and recognition and assist in the development of key sales/marketing initiatives with full accountability for the implementation & execution of these strategic plans in the on premise, off premise, chain. They will serve as ‘Ambassador’, the voice/face of the brands. Representing, championing, training and educating across all levels of the trade, distributor and consumer. Maximizing brand exposure through trade and promotional events as needed. About the Role: Work both independently and alongside the distributor to build and grow sales in the territory. Lead all field level sales/promotional activity to increase distribution and drive profitable sales growth. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at both the wholesaler and trade to keep brand top of mind. Draft annual regional business plan for assigned markets and obtain Distributor alignment on brand objectives, sales/depletion goals, tactical budgets, marketing support, pricing strategy, on/off premise programming and POS. Call on new and existing accounts to sell in, secure reorders, optimize shelf/floor visibility and offer support to accounts via in-store tastings, staff trainings, incentive programs and price support. Develop/Roll out strategically sound programming that provides distributor sales reps with the support to confidently present the brand to buyers and incentivizes on/off premise partners to elevate the brands priority vs. the competition encouraging them to prominently feature/promote the brand to their customers. Share key learnings/suggestions with HQ and assist in the development of annual national brand/marketing plan. Actively seek out brand building opportunities including food & wine tastings, trade show/event sponsorships, cocktail features to steal share of mind, build awareness/recognition, educate consumers, generate trial, and drive purchase. Lead discussions with Distributor management to ensure tracking against agreed upon goals, report on the overall state of the brand and provide status/programming/pricing updates to sales reps. Develop/Track regional budgets including invoicing, distributor bill backs and marketing. Identify opportunities to support and give back to local, regional and national charities/organizations. About You: Minimum 3 years sales experience in spirits industry. Knowledge of state and federal liquor laws required. Knowledge of local market with previous market/distributor management experience. Passionate and knowledgeable about craft spirits, especially whiskey. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate and build confidence with brand ownership, distributor sales team and trade accounts. Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation and conflict management skills. Ability to analyze and utilize distributor reporting software (Diver, IRI, VIP etc) to identify opportunities and create sales. Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends, as needed. Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time across the entirety of the state. Valid driver’s license with a clean/safe driving record. Must currently reside in the assigned territory.
