Our client is looking for a results-driven Materials Supervisor to manage the procurement, stock control, and distribution of construction materials in the Cork area. This role involves coordinating supplier relations, handling customer inquiries, processing quotations and orders, and managing a small ledger of accounts. The Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations within the materials department, maintaining stock accuracy, overseeing deliveries, and have strong communication with both internal teams and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the purchasing and inventory management of construction materials.
- Monitor stock levels, ensuring timely reordering and minimising shortages.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and ensure prompt deliveries.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and address discrepancies.
- Work closely with the accounts team to ensure payments are processed accurately.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, handling inquiries, complaints, and product information.
- Process customer orders and ensure timely fulfilment with accurate documentation.
- Prepare quotations and sales proposals in collaboration with the sales team.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within the construction materials or building supplies sector.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and stock control processes.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with customers, sales teams, and suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.
- Familiarity with financial systems and account management.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
- 3-5 years of experience in the building materials or construction supply industry, preferably in a supervisory role.
